Standardized test scores, once considered the best predictor of academic success, are now taking a back seat to the transcript and personal characteristics such as authenticity and resilience. Unconventional activities like beekeeping and blogging are getting their due. Even the Common Application has added a new essay question that asks students to write about something that makes them happy or grateful. This process has really changed since we were teenagers in high school!
